Jimmie "Jim" Lee Thompson, 85, of Henderson, Nevada went home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2022.
He was born on December 16, 1936, to Kenneth and Bertha Thompson in Mt. Ayr, Iowa.
Jim moved with his family to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1940, and graduated from Las Vegas High in 1955. He met his future wife at the Blue Onion drive-in and married Carolyn Sue Yelton on December 20, 1959. He served in the U.S. Army reserve from 1960 to 1965. They had one child, Todd Lee Thompson.
JT went to work for Community Chevrolet in downtown Las Vegas and sold automotive parts for five different Chevrolet dealerships for over 60 years, retiring from Findlay Chevrolet in 2017.
He raced desert motorcycles as a young adult, drove in SCCA car rallies, and enjoyed stock-car racing, fishing, and woodworking.
Jim is survived by his son Todd, daughter-in-law Suzy, granddaughter Sarah with her husband Buck, grandson Nicholas, sister Barbara Miller and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, his sister Beverly Dammeir, and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, his favorite charity.
